The TINYHOME E60 makes an ideal holiday cabin, granny flat, or small home. It is no bigger than necessary, but features an open-plan living area, two bedrooms, and a large covered veranda. The 'E' stands for economical and energy efficient, and '60' is the total footprint in square metres, which fits within the maximum 60m² requirement for dual occupancy (granny flat) regulations on suitably-sized sites in most Australian states. The well-thought-out design and detailing (prepared by an experienced architect/builder) makes it easily buildable, using readily-available off-the-shelf materials and conventional construction techniques; with an elevated timber-framed floor supported by posts, making it suitable for level, sloping, or poorly drained sites (although it can also be built on a concrete slab if preferred). And it is dimensioned to accommodate standard-sized wall sheets, floor sheets, and roof sheets in easily-handled sizes to minimise the amount of waste and labour. With our fully-detailed materials order list included with the 20-page set of drawings, the entire list of components can be delivered in one order by most major building suppliers, making it essentially a kit home which can be built on site in a few weeks by a small team of local carpenters.
